The Crippled Herring® is the most versatile lure you’ll ever use. It can be vertically jigged, cast and retrieved, and even trolled in both fresh and saltwater alike. Its high-action design takes advantage of the strong predator instinct programmed into game fish.

Every Crippled Herring comes from the factory shaped for optimum action and sound. The 1/2- through 5-oz. series is designed for lively action and is highly effective throughout the entire water column. Every strike-triggering action possible is programmed into each lure, making adjustments unnecessary. Under most conditions, fish strike the Crippled Herring in reaction to its appearance and sonic vibrations.

Key Features

  • Precision-Engineered: Life-like body shape designed for maximum action, closely resembling the natural action of a crippled or stunned baitfish.

  • Multi-Technique Versatility: Highly effective for vertical jigging, casting and retrieving, or trolling across fresh and saltwater environments.

  • Trolling Performance: Unlike standard spoons that troll in a fairly tight pattern, the Crippled Herring features a more frantic action with a pronounced sideways kick to either side to trigger strikes.

  • Water Column Depth: The heavyweight 5-oz. model is engineered to effectively reach deep water columns (rated down to approximately 170 ft.).

Specifications

  • Length: 4-1/4 inches (4.25")

  • Weight: 5 oz.

  • Color / Finish: Chrome

  • Application: Fresh and Saltwater

Manufacturer Tips

  • On the Fall: The lure will most often be taken on the downward fall. A vertical rod lift causes the lure to wobble upward and positions it for the critical downward fluttering action as the rod is dropped back. Pay close attention for taps and hesitations on the fall and set the hook when they happen.

  • Cold Water Conditions: Pause at the bottom of the drop for up to three seconds to connect with lethargic fish.
