High-Speed Power & Lever Drag Control: Shimano SpeedMaster II Reels
When targeting hard-fighting pelagic species or pulling big fish out of deep structure, the Shimano SpeedMaster II series delivers exceptional cranking power and high-output drag performance in a compact, durable frame. Designed as a versatile 2-speed lever drag conventional reel, the SpeedMaster II gives anglers the flexibility to quickly switch from high-speed line retrieval to a low-gear power ratio with the push of a button—making it easier to pump stubborn Bluefin Tuna, monster Striped Bass, or deep-water bottom fish to the surface.
Built with a rigid, flex-free metal Hagane Body and Shimano's S-Compact Body design, the SpeedMaster II reduces frame deflection under heavy loads while fitting comfortably in the palm of your hand. Its smooth Cross Carbon Drag system produces up to 44 lbs of stopping power, while S A-RB shielded bearings protect internal components from harsh saltwater intrusion.
Our SpeedMaster II lineup covers the full range of offshore and inshore heavy applications:
