High-Speed Star Drag Power: Shimano Torium Conventional Reels
Engineered for solid durability, long casting distance, and raw cranking leverage, the Shimano Torium series is a flagship choice among star-drag conventional reels. Designed around an ultra-rigid metal HAGANE Body and an ergonomic S-Compact Body profile, the palming side-plate is up to 25% smaller, giving anglers total control, reduced wrist strain, and all-day comfort while working heavy currents or cranking up deep-water gamefish.
The Torium series excels across both high-speed jigging and heavy bottom-fishing applications. Featuring High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) and a silky-smooth Cross Carbon Drag system, this reel delivers up to 33 lbs of stopping power without binding under heavy loads. Combined with Super Free Spool technology and Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings (S A-RB), the Torium easily launches heavy jigs, live bait, and sinkers through harsh sea breezes.
Tailored across high-gear (HG) and power-gear (PG) models for every saltwater application:
-
Torium 14HG & 16HG / PG: Compact workhorses ideal for pitching live bunker, vertical jigging, and working the Cape Cod Canal's rocky bottom.
-
Torium 20HG & 30HG / PG: High-capacity star drags built for heavy-braid jigging, deep drifting, and pulling monster Striped Bass and coastal pelagics out of deep structure.
-
Torium 40PG & 50HG: Heavy-duty powerhouses designed to hold massive line capacities for targeting offshore Tuna and heavy bottom dwellers.
